Illiera Ch.21TWENTY-ONEI was in the middle of a battle field, and it was utter chaos. There were blood and bodies everywhere, and the yelling of the crowd of people around me was nearly drowned out by the endless shriek of metal on metal. The air sizzled with magic, both good and bad, and there were so many people that I couldn't tell friend from foe.I realised that I wasn't actually there, I was just a bystander.Suddenly I saw Keren, sword in hand and blood on her face. She was battling fiercely, but there were three of them and one of her. I then (very strangely) saw myself running towards Keren. 'I' ran towards her and struck down two of her atta
Illiera Ch.20TWENTY I walked confidently through the halls, not needing to be shown where to go this time. I knew this place, as I had spent a lot of time here before the incident. I walked up a few flights of stairs, until I reached the top floor corridor. The shield was so strong up here that I could feel the air around me buzzing slightly. There were only seven rooms in this hall, each of the individually shielded both physically and mentally. Keren, Ellesmeara and Heidi all hung back. They knew it was better if I did this alone. I walked resolutely to the first door and knocked quietly. The was a second of silence and then, "Come in," a deep male
Illiera Ch.19NINETEEN Our conversation with Clarion was suitable awkward after that. We only stayed for a few more minutes, and for that I was grateful. Once outside the cold and awkward atmosphere of Clarion's office, I rounded on Keren. "And is there any particular reason you decided not to tell me we were going to meet the Queen today, or do you just enjoy keeping me guessing?" I demanded, my voice laced with heavy sarcasm. Everybody except Keren and Heidi (who knew better) cracked up. I just stood, arms crossed glaring at Keren while they all laughed at me.Keren waited until they had finished cackling before answering. :I am sorry, Kenzie: sh
Illiera Ch.18EIGHTEEN The rest of the week passed much as my first day had. All of my gift classes were huge amounts of fun. Defence was also a lot of fun, especially since no one seemed to be able to pin me, and they were all way ahead of me. Matt and Ben had told us that we would be moving onto weapons work next week, now that a 'certain person' (me) had been caught up. History (or News, as it was commonly called among the others) was fascinating in a really morbid way. Hearing news of the outside world was good, but hearing what the actual news was, well, let just say it was something that could rightly be called macabre. And frightening. But I tried
Illiera Ch.17SEVENTEEN After we had been sitting the for what was, in my opinion, not nearly long enough, I heard a voice calling. Though, it wasn't actually a voice, more a mind voice. I recognised it as Heidi. :Kenzie? Where are you?: she must have senses Jules, because she thought, :Jules? Are you with her? Well, we need you both back up here, preferably before dinner, please: I felt julian going to respond sarcastically, so I got in first. :We're coming, Heidi. Be up in a minute: Then the presence of her mind was gone. I sighed and heaved myself to my feet. Jules got up as well, and took hold of my shoulders. I flinched slghtly, remembering la
Illiera Ch.16SIXTEEN After the day was done, I was exhausted. I sat outside in the extensive ground under the branches of the largest tree there. The magic side of things had been very easy. I discovered that basically, I could see everything with my second vision and almost feel everything, people included, as sort of bright lights, I suppose, in my mind. Humans were bright, Bamiera really bright, and anything else duller, but still there. All I had to do to use my power was to find the thing I wanted in my mind, sort of wrap my mind around it, and then reach inside me to grasp my power and use whatever particular power I needed and apply it to w
